When the snow melted in March 06, the amount of litter revealed along the length of this 4-mile hike was distressing. I cleaned up the worst dump at Waypoint 1. The whole stretch from there down to Waypoint 2 needs a lot of help, and the rest of the route needs some attention too.

Since the path is a loop, it’s not clear which side of the circuit is the worst. I imagine it’s the smaller segment. ;)

Hi Jeremy. Yes, the route goes clockwise and the worst stretch is between points 1 (near 333 Chapman) and then down the hill and along the tracks to point 2 near the Eastern Ave. intersection. You raise a great point. If the route line included directional indicators it wouldn’t have been necessary to say that.

On 3/29/2006 I filled up another bag going clockwise from Robin Hood Park to Waypoint 1 at 333 Chapman. There are still a few things to pick up along that stretch, but the most helpful effort now would be to start at Waypoint 2 (Eastern and Chapman) and head up Chapman.

Just heard you on NHPR today, and found your online tour of the cemetery. We are at 441 Chapman, and I’m often picking up trash near our place. Have you checked out the trails on the city-owned land on Beech Hill? -Al

Hi Al,
I keep meaning to take those trails, but then I keep being seduced by the view of Monadnock that I’d miss if I went that way. But thanks for reminding me…it’s something I should try.
