“Safe Routes, Safe City”
This map shows the planned route for the Robert Osborn Memorial Bicycle Ride, starting at 11AM Sunday, December 11th, 2005. The ride starts at the parking lot of HyVee, 4545 Noland Rd, Independence, Missouri.
Sunday, November 20th, Robert was the victim of a senseless murder while riding his bicycle home from work at HyVee.
The memorial will start with a short outdoor meeting where family and friends will talk about Robert and his life. Everyone is invited to this meeting.
Bicyclists are then invited to ride in memory of Robert. The 8 mile route follows Robert’s bicycle commuting route from HyVee to home and other area roads where he frequently bicycled.
Robert was a committed transportation bicyclist who lived in the Raytown area and often rode his bicycle throughout the Kansas City region.
His senseless and needless death has brought area bicyclists and citizens together to speak up for safer routes and a safer city.
The memorial ride is jointly sponsored by the Missouri Bicycle Federation and the Greater Kansas City Bicycle Federation.
