These are the locations for the vigil for bicyclist Susan Brewer, who was hit by a truck while riding to work on Route 291 the morning of September 30th, 2006. Susan died in the hospital the next day.
We will meet at Liberty City Park at 7PM, Wednesday September 6th, 2006 for the vigil.
Liberty City Park is at Hwy 291 and Kent Street in Liberty (the red balloon on the map).

This section of Hwy 291 is exceptionally bad—a “poster child” for all the similar poorly designed, dangerous places in the Kansas City area:
* Right in a residential neighborhood with houses lining both sides
* 4 lanes, 45 MPH speed, heavy traffic
* No sidewalks, but heavily traveled “cattle paths” on each side
* No bike lane/shoulder but a 1.5 foot wide gutter area with bike eating drain grates every 200 feet
* No nearby alternative routes for bicyclists or pedestrians

For Susan’s sake the truck stopped, I suppose. On June 10, 2006, a drunk MF named Brian Bealmer, driving a white Ford pick-up doing 60 mph struck my bike on Highgrove at Raytown Rd. As with all drunk pukes he ran away, followed by his drunk buddies who were partying @ Longview Lake. The case of attempted murder was dropped four days later…because all are members of local police departments. R.I.P. Susan, the world sucks anyway.

I’m sure they (Police) blamed it on Susan. Remind your people that they should check the uninsured motorist coverage of their auto insurance. it covered my accident @ Longview Lake , 6/10/2006/ where a drunk cop (POS) ran over me.

stringcatt: Was this at the point where Raytown Road goes north from High Grove or the other place where Raytown Rd goes south from High Grove? I’m just curious whether it fell under the KCMO police or Grandview (those two different spots are in two different cities). Would you mind saying which police dept investigated?
