The 72 river miles from Ramsey to Hastings, Minnesota, are designated the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area. The park is a collaboration of state, county, and private lands, with only a few islands actually under federal ownership. Sites interpret the milling history of Minneapolis and the still-working inland port of St Paul. Features include St Anthony Falls, the Stone Arch Bridge, Minnehaha Falls, Fort Snelling State Park, the Henry Sibley House, Indian Mounds Park, and more. The park headquarters are in the Science Museum of Minnesota.
