March 24, 1989 (Good Friday) – The Exxon Valdez SuperTanker ran into Bligh Reef in the middle of the night. Over 11 million gallons of crude oil spilled and 1900 km of coastline were affected.
See that little line in the Map and hybrid view, that’s the shipping lane were the tankers still travel today. And I don’t think the fisherman and the villagers have got any payment or damages from Exxon – go figure!
