The Trojan War, Theater Laboratory, Schwartz Center, 1700 N. Decatur Rd., Atlanta, GA, 30322, public $18; patrons over 65 and under 18, non-Emory students, and other discount category members $14; Emory students $6, 404-727-5050, www.arts.emory.edu .

The Trojan War is comprised of two programs that will play in repertory. The Trojan War - Program A %u2013 %u201CIphigenia and Other Daughters%u201D Oct. 4, 6, 10, and 12, at 7 p.m., and a matinee Oct. 13 at 2 p.m.

FOR ARTS AND HUMANITIES MONTH: The October 10, 7 p.m. performance is Pay-What-You-Can at The Door Night (subject to availability). Program A consists of Ellen McLaughlin%u2019s %u201CIphigenia and Other Daughters%u201D directed by Janice Akers. This is a version of Sophocles%u2019 %u201CElectra,%u201D with a short prologue and epilogue based on Euripides%u2019 %u201CIphigenia in Aulis%u201D and %u201CIphigenia in Tauris.%u201D These are contemporary responses to the original plays, marked by %u201Caustere lyricism%u201D (Oskar Eustis, Artistic Director of The Public Theater) and by a strong woman%u2019s perspective.

The Trojan War – Program B %u2013 %u201CThe Final Hours of Troy%u201D and %u201CThe Trojan Women%u201D Oct. 5, 11, and 13 at 7 p.m. and matinees on Oct. 6 and 14 at 2 p.m.

FOR ARTS AND HUMANITIES MONTH: The October 11, 7 p.m. performance is Pay-What-You-Can at The Door Night (subject to availability). Program B has two parts: %u201CThe Final Hours of Troy%u201D and %u201CThe Trojan Women.%u201D Tim McDonough directs Robert Fagles%u2019 adaptation of %u201CThe Final Hours of Troy,%u201D Virgil%u2019s account of the Trojan horse and the sacking of Troy that has been rendered in a style that is %u201Cof our time yet timeless%u201D (Richard Jenkyns). An ensemble of actors will narrate and enact this epic story. Robert Fagles is the winner of the PEN/Ralph Manheim Medal for Translation and a 1996 Academy Award in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Brenda Bynum will direct Ellen McLaughlin%u2019s %u201CThe Trojan Women,%u201D which is a condensation of what McLaughlin says may be the greatest antiwar play ever written. Hecuba, Helen, Cassandra, Andromache and a chorus of women await their fate after the fall of Troy. McLaughlin, best known as the actor who originated the role of the Angel in %u201CAngels in America,%u201D is a prize-winning playwright who has for over a decade worked on adaptations of Greek plays.
