South Congress or SoCo is a portion of the aforementioned street that is packed with tons of funky shops, cool clothing stores, and great restaurants. There are also a couple of great music venues and hotels/motels. It is a youthful area and keeps the “Keep Austin Weird” spirit alive in its wacky costume shops(Lucy in Disguise…with Diamonds), it’s interesting second-hand shops, and fashionable trendy clothes stores.There are a lot of great and varied restaurants. Some favorites are: Woodland(homestyle food), South Congress Cafe(casual fine dining), Guerros(historic Mexican food joint), and Home Slice (great pizza). SoCo is definitely a must see when visiting. Try staying at the modern upscale San Jose Hotel or the wacky and reasonable Austin Motel.
