Muir Woods is a beautiful site to visit within 30 minutes of San Francisco. There is a beautiful main trail about 1 mile long, through these giant and ancient redwoods. There are also miles of trails through Mt. Tamalpais State Park if you are feeling more ambitious. This is a must see if in Northern California. Really magical.
