Synopsis:
This easy to miss place is a great friendly neighborhood bar. On entering we were looked over by everyone in the place and it almost felt like we were crashing a party, but the chipper bartender quickly made us feel at home. The bar is in the shape of a semi circle, so there is group feeling among the drinkers. In fact we overheard the owner talking about trips he and some of the regulars take to Vegas from time to time. This place feels more like a clubhouse than a bar, and I like it.
I revisited the Tavern without my husband, but with a girlfriend, and we were soon offered many drinks on the house and by others (men). They were certainly friendly, curious gestures without any meatmarket tones. Nice neighborhood guys. One was telling us of the Christmas carolling that he was doing with friends around the city. Good people. We weren’t in the mood for a bender, just a nightcap, so we had to decline the offers of free drinks. Next time!
