Description

Location: 3336 24th St. at Mission

<a href = “http://baraweek.blogspot.com/2005/11/bar-classifications.html”>Type: Hipster Bar

Synopsis:
This tiny place is molotov cocktail throwing distance from the BART station but easy to miss as its dimly lit front is tucked away on the lower profile northwest corner of this “colorful” intersection. Friday night happy-hour found us unencroached and happily imbibing cheap but well-made drinks and not being overly-ignored by the bartendress. My Mission-hipster sense/radar tells me that this place gets over-run later at night, but I doubt with the “daring fratboy” types that made the Mission insufferable in the dot com days. The dim lighting felt comforting, especially since I really didnt want to think about what the origin of the stains everywhere were. And the requisite dark wood and overall grunginess felt familiar, soothing. Kinda like a low-brow Latin American Club. This place once had live music, despite its intimate size (okay, so I’m cheating, I’ve been here before, but not since ’98, within the statute of limitations on this blog). We say add this one to your list, especially if you ride BART, the 48, the 14, the 26…
