The house and grounds are fairly modest. The tasting area, however, is delightful featuring an airy room with sit down tasting service enabling ready side-by-side comparisons. Of course, the main reason to go to Duckhorn is thw wine, which is some of the best in Napa. The merlot is the best of this varietal I’ve tasted. The Cabernet is outstanding as well. Interestingly, the single vineyard versions of the merlot (Howell Mountain, if I recall) and cabernet are much worse than the multi-vineyard standard versions.
