We planned our second day on the road with short mileage on purpose. We thought that after a long initial day with newly loaded bikes our legs would need some time to recover. We arrived at Lakeport State Park in the early afternoon after a pleasant ride up the St. Clair River through Marysville and Port Huron. The campsite was quite nice. The cottonwood trees were in full bloom and the white fluffy seeds fell like snow. Oh yeah, Brian is very allergic to cottonwood trees.
In the afternoon we rode back 7 miles to the local laundromat. As the clothes were washing a thunderstorm blew in. That is when Brian realized that he had made a tactical error by leaving the fly off of his tent. He left me to finish the wash and sprinted back the park. It started to rain as he entered the camp ground. Only one mile left to the tents. The intensity of the rain increased the closer he got to the camp. It only took one roll of paper towels to sop up the inside of his tent once he got the fly in place.
