18 Bowery. Edward Mooney house. Built in 1785, its the oldest town-house in Manhattan, but with no hoop-la in the form of informational signs or plaques. Originally built as a merchant’s house, by the 1840’s it was being used as a brothel (according to Guide to New York City Landmarks by Andrew S. Dolkart. Preservation Press, 1998.)
