Hannover (or, in its English spelling, Hanover) is the capital of Germany’s largest state, Lower Saxony, and probably most famous for hosting one of the biggest international IT fairs, the CeBIT.

The local club, Hannover 96, may not have collected many national and international laurels and spent several years in lower divisions, but the AWD Arena (f.k.a. as Niedersachsenstadion) is a frequent outlet for international matches. Irish people may remember a friendly match here in 1994 when the Republic beat Germany 2-0.
