Our route continued to follow the north shore of Lake Erie. Quiet roads and lake views. We were planning to eat before Port Colborne but the restaurant was closed. Lucky for us.
We continued into Port Colborne and rode along the Welland Canal. As we approached the downtown area, a lady asked Brian if he was looking for a good place to eat. He said yes and she pointed at an old building across the street.
Sandy’s Creperie was an old house that had been converted into a small restaurant. There were about a dozen tables and the lady behind the counter told us to sit anywhere.
We walked in, spotted a table with four beautiful pies, and said we’ll sit here, bring two forks. We were told that the regular customers expect to have some pie but if we are good we can have a piece.
The food was good, the pie was great. William Least Heat-Moon in his book Blue Highways refered to this type of place as a four calendar restaurant.
