The wind gained strength all day. By the afternoon it was getting dangerous. Fortunately it was mostly at our back. When our route put the wind at our side, we were blown all over the road. At one point wind caught my fairing and pushed me up hill at about 7 mph without pedaling.
We got to the camp ground at Lake Neatahwanta (cool name) and found a site in the lee of a large hill. We were out of the wind.
Camped near us was another couple of cycle tourists. Barb and Noel Reed live in Burlington, Ontario and have toured all over eastern Canada and the US. They were spending an extra night in camp to avoid riding into that wind. The Reed’s journal is here.
