The old B&O Potomac River bridge was replaced some years ago when the tunnel was straightened out, allowing the construction of the current main line bridge. The old bridge is used to access the Shenandoah Valley Line. There is a pedestrian walkway on the south side of the bridge to allow national park visitors to go from Harpers Ferry to the C&O Canal.
