The wall of the J.P. Morgan building at 23 Wall Street damaged by the Sept. 16, 1920 bomb. 40 people died in the blast, and many more were injured when a device consisting of 100 lbs of dynamite carried by a horse drawn wagon exploded.

Thousands of suspects were interrogated, and many recent immigrants were deported in the “red scare” which intensified after the bombing. No was charged with the attack, and the case was dropped in 1940.
