Instal 04, a festival of avantgarde music, marked the first public appearance of Jandek – or more precisely, “a representative of Corwood Industries”, his record label. The “secret guest” played a set with local musicians Alex Neilson (drums) and Richard Youngs (bass), which has since been released as Glasgow Sunday.

Obviously he seems to have appreciated the experience: He returned for a spring concert (May 23) at the Glasgow Centre of Contemporary Arts (see separate waypoint) and the Instal 05 edition of the festival, this time even playing two gigs on Sep 14 and 16. The first of these sets featured Youngs and Neilson again, the second one brought two different pieces, one with Loren Mazzacane Connors (harmonica) and another one with Jandek on drums, Heather Leigh Murray (steel guitar and vocals) and Alan Licht (guitar).
