The primary landing direction for this runway is to the east. So to land here, we would approach from the north, fly straight at the mountains until we just couldn’t stand it any more (seeing your cockpit windows full of mountain is not a good feeling) and then we would turn left to final and land. People got medals for flying into air fields like this if they did it often enough.
