Lecce is not shown on the Soleto map, the city was founded much later. I’ve only marked it here because today it is the biggest city of the region and the capital of the province of Lecce, which is practically identical with the Salento.

Lecce is also the center of the Apulian baroque, a particularly flamboyant variant of this 16th and 17th century style.
