Description

Ardenwood – a favorite destination for many reasons.

First, the SPCRR Society for the Preservation of Carter Railroad Resources, operates a (BIG) horse (the horse that is…) drawn narrow gauge railroad. SPCRR also restores old narrow gauge cars, and celebrates the history of the South Pacific Coast Rail Road (SPCRR, get it??).

The historic Patterson House is open for tours, and on many summer weekends the a venue for weddings and other events.

When the horse (alas now the only one, maybe a new one someday) isn’t pulling trains, he works the fields.

There’s also a blacksmith, farm animals, and just generally a way to step back to the late 1800s.

Look for special events, such as the Father’s Day Fire Engine festival!

There are lots of other links to sites which discuss Ardenwood.
