Limerick Nuclear Generating Station.
Two boiling water reactors (BWRs) that have been on line since the mid-eighties (1985 for Limerick 1, 1989 for Limerick 2). According to the DOE’s fact sheet, this plant supplies nine percent of the state’s power (25% of total nuclear power, which in turn supplies 36% of the state’s total power).

- Exelon Corp’s Limerick station page which tucks the emergency plan
in amongst information about how much money Limerick employees give to United Way, how many jobs the plant has created, etc. Also includes comforting description of plan, as follows: “Limerick employs a sophisticated emergency response plan to protect public health and safety. Both the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the state of Pennsylvania approved the plan. The Emergency Plan includes coordination with local counties, municipalities and school districts.”
News
- The station got a visit from Pres. Bush on May 24, 2006, and was used as a backdrop for an energy-policy speech. I’ve put a collection of news stories and links here.
Here’s an official White House photo of the speech…
...and at the bottom right of the page, there’s another photo of the President touring the control room. Both are from WhiteHouse.gov.
