The African Sustainable Fuels Centre (ASFC) will explore the commercialisation of biodiesel in Cape Town, South Africa. The project%u2019s goal is to kick-start demand for biodiesel to the point where free market economics can take over. This process will be started by developing confidence in the City of Cape Town to use a biodiesel blend in its municipal fleet. The project will deliver blended biodiesel and technical support to the City, publish a generic business plan for small-scale biodiesel production to stimulate the supply-side, and develop a web-based information portal for the emerging industry.
