Beaverhead National Forest
The campground, at the base of Lee Metcalf Wilderness Area, is trailhead for
the Bear Creek Loop Trail. It is suitable for both horse (stock) and family camping.
There are no grilles or tables on the sites. Most sites are nestled in an Aspen grove
with some shared hitching rails. There is heavy grass understory which makes
locating tents a challenge.
From Ennis, MT, take US Rt. 287 south 10.7 miles to Forest Rt. 327
(in Cameron, MT). Turn left onto Rt. 327 (Bear Creek Loop) and go 6.5
miles to Bear Creek sign. Turn left at sign and go 2.3 miles to “camping”
sign. Turn right into campground.
