Robin Richeson Colter has been working as both fine artist and graphic designer in the Birmingham area for the past 17 years, the last nine of which as art director of Birmingham magazine.
In 1990 Robin joined Times Eight, a group of working artists that organized live figure drawing classes weekly and showed together annually. Participating in approximately six group shows as well as several Artwalks with Times Eight, Robin eventually held the offices of treasurer and vice president of the non-profit organization during her eight-year membership.
In 1995 Robin had several one-person art exhibitions, which included the Birmingham Art Association, the University of Georgia and the Guntersville Museum. She has also been included in many juried group exhibitions from Dothan to Baton Rouge. In 1998, she was invited by the Office Communal de la Culture of Pont St. Esprit, France to be a part of a group exhibition in their local Cultural Center. Voted %u201CBest of Show,%u201D Colter was sent a magnum of the finest Champagne in the region.
Robin was represented for several years by Little House Gallery in Homewood and then later by Bare Hands Gallery in downtown Birmingham where she gained a following of local patrons who enjoyed the bright and whimsical tone of her work. After a four year hiatus to focus on family and her position at Birmingham magazine, Robin has eagerly jumped back into her painting. Last year%u2019s Artwalk was a completely positive experience from both a personal and financial standpoint for Robin. Her work is once again carried at Bare Hands Gallery and her private commission base of clients continues to grow.
