Mixed Media

A native of Birmingham, I work with mixed media on canvas and create unique abstracts with acrylic paints, glazes, stains, handmade papers, graphic illustrations, magazine clippings, and other natural materials. My signature technique blends bold and rustic colors, modern and distressed elements and varying textures to create layers of interesting detail in my modern abstracts. The clever and deliberate combinations of paint, paper, graphics, color and texture usually reveal themselves in %u201Cright angles.%u201D The end result is what I refer to as %u201Corganized chaos;%u201D a reflection of my busy life. I am self-taught, developing my technique through experimentation over the past six years. I won first place in the mixed media category at the 2005 Spring Show for Mountain Brook Art Association, and third place in the same category at the group%u2019s 2006 Spring Show.
