The heart (if not the geographical center) of the gay community in West Hollywood. West Hollywood has the largest concentration of gays and lesbians of any community in Southern California. Many protest marches and vigils begin here. At other times, the neighborhood is considered by many in the gay community to be too youth-centered and commercially oriented. It represents the best and worst of the gay community.
