Description

On July 4, from 1965 through 1969, gay activists would stage a “Reminder Day” protest in front of Independence Hall. The men wore shirts and ties; the women modest dresses. along with the American flag, the signs they carried during their orderly protests read SUPPORT HOMOSEXUAL RIGHTS and HOMOSEXUALS SHOULD BE JUDGED AS INDIVIDUALS. The last demonstration occurred the day after the Stonewall Riots in New York.
